Streaker at the Phillies-Cardinals game in St. Louis last night.

Security should have tased his ball sack. That seems like an appropriate punishment for making the world look at his junk.

Saturday Night. Game Seven. Somebody is getting choked out. Hopefully it’s KG.

Eagles Quarterbacks Coach Doug Pederson on Michael Vick:

We don’t go into the game planning runs for him, everything is natural, and it’s an instinct thing for him. If we can keep him healthy and keep him in the pocket and do the things you ask him to do, we’ll do that, but nothing is really designed for him.”

This seems extremely silly. The Eagles have a super-athletic QB in Vick but they don’t game plan to use one of his main weapons, his running ability. Could this explain why his rushing touchdowns dropped from nine to one? Vick’s legs might be a decent red zone option from time to time. Just a thought.

Since 2010, the Eagles are 8-2 when Vick scores a touchdown on the ground.

Vick’s been knocked out of four games over the last two seasons. His first was on an awesome scramble vs. the Skins in the Donovan return game. The second injury occurred in the pocket against the Falcons when his head got slammed. Vick hurt his non-throwing hand a week later against the Giants after he took a helmet shot and fell to the ground. He was in the pocket. And the exact play of last injury, broken ribs vs. Arizona, has been questioned.

The Eagles lost all four games so it’s understandable that they want to keep Vick healthy. This team is not going to win with him on the sidelines. But the idea that keeping Vick in the pocket will subject him to a less amount of injurious hits is nonsense. He’s just as likely to get knocked out while running around as he is while standing in the pocket.

Pederson added, “Know your own strengths and limitations.” The Eagles need to take that advice and use Vick’s legs to win games.

Shady got paid! Love this guy. He deserves the money.

Bryzgalov Just Doesn’t Understand

Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov talks about his first season in Philadelphia:

“What I lived through this season I wouldn’t wish to an enemy.”

“Now I know what it’s like to be a goaltender in Philadelphia. Maybe from the outside it looks like there’s nothing to it. You only realize it on your own.”

“People are so concentrated on the negative that they only see the bad in me. But I think you need to be kinder to each other.”

“I have eight more years to work under my contract with Philadelphia. If I am criticized, then I will endure it. You can’t tie up people’s tongues. It is their right to let the emotions go.”

“It’s easy to turn away when the club is going through tough times. But if you’re wearing orange sweaters, then support Philadelphia until the very end! Don’t denounce your team. There won’t be a different one. And I know that the Flyers have dedicated fans who understand hockey and will always support.”

And Allen Iverson is balling in China? Don’t even watch the video. AI makes a decent jumper. A skirmish later breaks out but the Answer wasn’t involved.

The Sixers won a playoff series? Andre Iguodala made two clutch free throws? WTF?

Martin Brodeur has spent a lifetime ruining the Flyers’ Stanley Cup aspirations. It will be a great day when he finally retires. Philly should throw a parade when it happens.
The Flyers have a solid nucleus of players under 25 years old to grow with. A healthy Chris Pronger would help too. Bryzgalov was starting to look pretty damn good before he fractured his foot in March. There’s reasons to think the future is bright for the Flyers. They are my odds-on favorite to be the next Philly team to win a title.

Terrible night in South Philly. At least my grandma that lives on South 15th St. didn’t die tonight.

Fuck. The phone’s ringing…

Everybody Talks Cole Hamels Beaning Bryce Harper

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. - “We try to take the high road on things like this. By no means are we condoning trying to be injurious.”

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel - “I wish he’d been a little bit more, what do you call it, not so honest, or dishonest, or discreet, that might be the right word. What I saw was the next time up Hamels came up to bat they definitely retaliated, he got hit on the calf, and he could have got hurt.”

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo - “Gutless chicken shit.”

Nationals Special Assistant to the General Manager Harolyn Cardozo - “If Cole Hamels wants a dog fight, he met a junkyard dog in Mike Rizzo.”

Nationals pitcher Jordan Zimmerman, who later beaned Hamels - “I was trying to go away, and I cut a fastball really, really bad and hit him in the knee.”

Tigers manager Jim Leyland - “That ball could have missed and hit him in the head or something else, I mean, when you come out and admit that I think five games is way too light.”

Former Phillie Curt Schilling - “The comment was dumb, in my opinion, and as a lifelong author of dumb comments, I feel comfortable stating that.”

Former Astro Morgan Ensberg - “No honor there. Whoever is the leader on that team doesn’t have control.”

Cubs manager Dale Sveum - “Interesting quotes.”

Cubs pitcher James Russell - “You’re supposed to just do it and keep your mouth shut about it.”

Braves pitcher Tim Hudson - “You don’t ever have to hit somebody, but there are a lot of times where it warrants something like that. It depends on what happens.”

Former Phillie Dave Hollins - ”You’ve got to try to pound the inner half. And if you miss and hit him, so what? And if you don’t, you’re pitching inside to see if he can handle the hard stuff in.”

Reds manager Dusty Baker - “It used to be more appropriate. It used to be very appropriate. That’s probably the thing that’s changed the most in baseball. There’s very little intimidation allowed.”
